Mission Statement

Dos Viejos is an independent micro press devoted to discovering and publishing well written books. We eschew genre categories and other classifications generally utilized in the publishing business. Our two imprints are Dos Perros Press and Uncorked Books. Our publishing business is traditional. We are not a self, vanity, or hybrid publisher.

We offer a customized publication alternative for authors who get scant attention from traditional publishers that are risk averse and rely primarily on marketing data in publishing decisions. Our operations are driven primarily by literary excellence and a personal relationship with an author. We are predisposed to authors from non-literary careers who now have the time and opportunity to pursue their love of writing. We believe that such authors possess deep life experience and an authentic perspective undervalued by mainstream publishers. Our publishing philosophy is unconventional and our goal is to emulate the editorial vision pioneered by the Hogarth Press of 1917.
